My take is that the best part of the deal is the 6-year term

The Big Ten's television deal will expire shortly before the grant-of-rights deals of the ACC and Big 12. That puts the Big Ten in the position of being able to make decisions on expansion, if it so chooses, and incorporating those changes in the television contracts that will follow this one. If, hypothetically, the B1G wants to add Oklahoma and Kansas, it can do so, wait a year or so for the Big XII deal to wind up and have a nice, orderly transition into a new contract.
